About BMI Calculator

The BMI calculator turns height and weight into a Body Mass Index and labels it underweight, normal, overweight, or obese. Metric and imperial units are both supported. BMI is a screening number, not a full health diagnosis.

Enter weight and height, or switch to pounds and feet. The formula is weight in kilograms divided by height in metres squared. Categories follow the common adult bands: under 18.5, 18.5–24.9, 25–29.9, and 30 or above.

Athletes, pregnant people, and older adults often need a fuller picture because BMI does not separate muscle from fat. Use the result as one signal and talk to a clinician for health decisions. Values stay in this browser.
